The Artist in Residence Programme at MuseumsQuartier in Vienna is part of ERSTE Foundation’s long-term endeavour to support contemporary art and to strengthen the fragile situation of its creators, especially in the region of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
The residency programme is carried out in close cooperation with ERSTE Foundation's key cultural partners: tranzit, Igor Zabel Association and Kontakt Collection (Kontakt Collection will collaborate with the Zagreb based WHW Akademija.) Thus, the residencies are aimed at artists and curators from Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia working in the field of critical contemporary visual art to do research in their respective area.

With a minimal infrastructure, a garden invaded by Jerusalem artichokes and temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, the Station is hardly the place ready to host artistic residencies. Nevertheless, following one of the objectives for the Station, to make its construction a transparent process, accompanied by events, workshops and other occasions for participation, tranzit.ro invited Elena Vlădăreanu to test the idea of research and reflection residency at the space of the Station.

Artistic residencies in the frame of The Wakest Link project.
GreenHouse / Sf. Atanasie street, no. 25, Iași
10 years after the initiation of tranzit. ro in Bucharest, Iași, Cluj and Sibiu, in 2012, tranzit. ro/ Iași embarks on a new structural-local journey in a new space in Iași, on St. Atanasie Street, no. 25 from Iași, together with colleagues from the sister organizations: Satellite, Teatru FIX and 1 + 1. This space will be generically called "Green House". On April 2, 2022, 6 p.m. we will all be able to meet at the opening of the After Future exhibition made by Satelit. At the regional and international level, we continue our work with tranzit.org. Our activity will start publicly with the residency program "The Weakest Link" in which we will have guests in Iași katia pascariu and Baran Gaginli. On this occasion, public events will be organized which will be announced at an earlier date.

The Fellowships for Curators and Artists at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg are part of ERSTE Foundation’s educational program and its long-term endeavour to support and strengthen contemporary art especially in the region of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The fellowship program is realized together with ERSTE Foundation’s long-time cooperation partners from tranzit, Igor Zabel Association and Kontakt Collection. Kontakt Collection collaborates with the Zagreb based WHW Akademija.
ERSTE Foundation offers twelve fellowships for young artists and emerging curators from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and from 2022 on also from Croatia to take part in a course of their choice at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg 2022.
We would like to express our solidarity with Ukraine and the people who have to endure or flee from the war there. Thus we plan to open this program to Ukrainian artists as well: six fellowships are to be dedicated to them. We will publish more information shortly.

tranzit. ro/ Iasi will welcome in Iasi the Bucharest based artist for a fresh encounter with the city of Iași, a city that he had visited since Periferic Biennial was organized here, in 2003. During his staying in Iasi, we will be looking together at his long time practice while identifying new artistic research and production strings in the public space.

Every summer some 300 students from more than 50 countries participate in over 20 classes at the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts. Well-known artists, curators and critics from all over the world offer courses focusing on topical questions of art production, as well as curatorial practice and writing about art.
The participants can choose from various courses taking place at Salzburg Summer Academy between 19 July - 28 August 2021.

FEINART - Extension of Recruitment Deadline
Due to the Covid-19 crisis and the uncertainty about travel, we have decided to extend the recruitment deadline until the 31st August 2020.
The European Training Network FEINART – “The Future of European Independent Art Spaces in a Period of Socially Engaged Art” is offering 11 Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) positions. FEINART is an ambitious interdisciplinary doctorate research programme funded by the European Union as part of the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) Action. Successful candidates will undertake a 3-year doctoral programme in the area of socially engaged art, with positions starting preferably in October/ November 2020.
