Curatorial assistant for tranzit.ro/ Bucuresti 2017-2021
Starting with February 2017, Roxana Gibescu is moving on to work on her PhD (while remaining a collaborator of tranzit.ro/ București for specific projects) and Iuliana Dumitru takes over her position as curatorial assistant. Iuliana was born in 1985 in the village of 2 Mai. She moved to Bucharest in 2005 and graduated from the Faculty of Sociology in 2008, with a degree in Human Communities. In 2011 she got a Master’s Degree at the Centre of Excellence in Image Studies (CESI- University of Bucharest). Now a PhD student at CESI, she’s writing about the image and imaginary of the 2 Mai and Vama Veche villages from a socio-anthropological perspective. For a short period of time she did research in Paris at the National Institute of Art History, regarding her interest in photography. Since a year, she has been a member of the Tranzit Garden community.
In Autumn 2021, Iuliana moved on to work for the National Peasant Museum in Bucharest, while remaining involved, together with tranzit, in the building of the Experimental Station for Research on Art and Life, of which she is a member.
