INSTAACTIVITY: Poe & Smaranda Ursuleanu

During the past 4 years, Poe & Smaranda Ursuleanu captured their dialogue between everyday activities and the city where they are based. Less like a duo and more like two witnesses of shared circumstances, they used several analogue and digital cameras to document various aspects and fragments of Iasi, both together and individually.
Poe Orlando Emanuel (b. 1994) is a multimedia artist. He explores, sometimes by absurd reductions, the inherent incongruent productions of the subjective mind. The motive of his works are traditional African masks designed in a psychedelic universe, being inspired by his own experiences and a period of childhood years spent in South Africa. @orlandoxemanuel
Smaranda Ursuleanu (b. 1995) is a multi-media artist based in Iasi, Romania. Inspired by the activities and rituals of our everyday existence, she experiments with various mediums to explore her body, identity, vulnerability and intimacy. Smaranda’s performative femininity and her subversive visual representations aim to deconstruct conventions and taboos about women’s body and experiences.
