Cezar Lăzărescu’s online contribution consisted of a series of archival images documenting his artworks from the late 90s and early 2000s. These are only a small selection of his incommensurable artistic work in terms of importance, relevance and volume for the Romanian and Iași contemporary art scene.

The image accompanying this newsletter is documenting a 2001 work by Lăzărescu, part of Periferic 4 – which was also the first edition of the – before that Periferic Festival – International Contemporary Art Biennial Periferic (2001-2008), organised by Vector Association. The work EXIT inside/ENTRANCE outside – 2001 was placed at the entrance of the main venue: The Turkish Bath in Iași, a building that will open in 2022 as the International Center For Contemporary Art ”Turkish Bath”.

In a symbolic gesture towads where the society lies, the Light box with the sign "EXIT" placed at the entrance in Turkish Bath and another one with the sign "ENTRANCE" placed at the exit of "Periferic" Biennial.

Cezar Lăzărescu (b. 1969, Iași, Romania) is a visual artist who lives and works in Iaşi. He studied at the National University of Arts "George Enescu" in Iași. His artistic practice includes object, site-specific, digital art and is a reaction to the current social and political reality. His works are characterized by irony and humor. Part of this contribution was possible within Research. Production. Dialogue / Cercetare.Producție. Dialog, a project that took place in 2020/ 2021 and was realized with the financial support of Iasi City Hall through the Programme of financial support of Civil Society projects from Iasi, law 350/ 2005, related to grants from public funds supporting not for profit activities from Iasi City Hall budget.
