DREPTURI, LIBERTĂȚI, PRIVILEGII (RIGHTS, FREEDOMS, PRIVILEGES) is a trans-disciplinary cultural project realized in Iași with contributions of international and local artists, theoreticians and researchers. By means that are specific to the contemporary art (exhibitions, residencies, presentations and discussions, artistic research) or to the social-humanist public debate (seminars, presentations, interviews) DREPTURI, LIBERTĂȚI, PRIVILEGII (RIGHTS, FREEDOMS, PRIVILEGES) proposes a cultural investigation that contributes to the questioning of the concepts of rights and property (the national majority rights – sovereignty; the national minority rights – self-determination and cultural autonomy; the immigration rights for free movement; the right to life – refugees; the gender rights; the right of expression and for information; the physical and intellectual property rights; as well as labor rights; the right to housing and education).

As cultural workers and representatives of the middle class, we are often in the position to research, to present and to represent these interest groups as marginalized groups, sometimes without knowing the concepts and the ideology they we are engaged with, despite the fact that we mostly believe to be politically and socially enlightened.

DREPTURI, LIBERTĂȚI, PRIVILEGII (RIGHTS, FREEDOMS, PRIVILEGES) facilitates the mobility of ideas and of the artistic and theoretical thinking through the discussion moments of the two theoretical seminars (Privileges and identities: rights and property) initiated and coordinated by the activist Noa Treister, as well as through the organization of two contemporary art exhibitions with the participation of the artists Cristina David, Valentin Cernat & Mihai Șovăială, Vladimir Us (Rights), Mona Vătămanu & Florin Tudor, Ștefan Rusu (Property). The project will include a research residency of Jens Haaning but also the Ovidiu Gherasim Proca’s presentation Mitul politic al proprietății intelectuale. De ce este atât de dăunător? (The political myth of intellectual property. Why is it so harmful?).
