“Ecology of Emancipation” Summer School
Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Câmpul Cetății, Mureș County, the first edition of the “Ecology of Emancipation” Summer School, organized by tranzit. ro/Cluj and intended mainly for high school students in the final years and students from socio-human faculties, ended.
With a duration of 5 days (September 1-5), the school aims to provide and maintain a suitable space for theoretical educational and friendly discussions on some of the most relevant and recent re-search perspectives in the social sciences, positioned as resources for political criticism of the present world.
The theme of this year's edition, "Ecologies of Emancipation" aims to look at what kind of relation-ship there is between the different systems and subsystems of modernity and their components or inhabitants, and to what extent a form of this relationship can be conceived and articulated. which is at the same time politically emancipatory but also desirable and ecologically realistic.
The program proposed to the young participants was structured around two conferences / lectures each day, held by young specialists and academics in various fields such as literary theory, history of ideas, cinema, social sciences, philosophy and media.

• Wednesday, September 1, Adriana Stan (Institutul Sextil Pușcariu, Cluj-Napoca) presented the reception of French poststructuralism in Romanian culture before and after 1989 and Ștefan Baghiu (ULBS Sibiu) spoke about the transition from socialist realism to capitalist realism
• Thursday, September 2, Liri Chapelan (UNATC Bucharest) made a foray into film ecocriticism and Radu Toderici (UBB Cluj-Napoca) presented the types of anti-capitalist criticism in the his-tory of cinema
• Friday, September 3, Attila Szigeti (UBB Cluj-Napoca) gave us an overview of the possible left responses to the impending climate crisis and Dana Domșodi (UBB Cluj-Napoca) spoke about the historical imaginary of the social sciences
• Saturday, September 4, Andrei Nae (University of Bucharest) gave an overview of the politics of narrative structures in video games and Costi Rogozanu (independent journalist) made a his-tory of the Romanian press between NGOs and fake news
• Sunday, September 5, Alex Cistelecan (UMFST Târgu-Mureș), Adela Hâncu (Romanian Society of Phenomenology) and Christian Ferencz-Flatz (UNATC Bucharest) spoke about the transfor-mations and issues of philosophy in communist Romania, and Alex Sava (UBB Cluj-Napoca ) on the climate crisis and the European Union policies
