Guided Urban Walks on Viitorului Street

tranzit.ro/ București organises from 20th of September to the 1st of November 2021 the project “Crimes are abolished. Only passions remain.*” Exhibitions and intersections, Paris Viitorului [Paris Future], a project co-financed by Bucharest City Council through ARCUB within the Programme Bucharest – Open City 2021
The project takes place in a new space, Paris Viitorului [Paris Future], on Mihai Eminescu Street (corner with Viitorului Street), sector 2, Bucharest, as well as in the neighbourhood around.
In the frame of this project, we invite you from 21 October to the 1st of November to a series of urban walks guided by: Mara Mărăcinescu, Florin Dumitrescu, Rucsandra Pop, V. Leac, Alice Gancevici & Remus Pușcariu, Ioana Tudora.
Mara Mărăcinescu: Changing future: sound walk
21 October, 6:30 p.m.
Mara Mărăcinescu is producing sound and podcasts. She started working with sound in 2009, when she was recording Bucharest’s sounds and now she produced narrative non-fiction podcasts that mix anthropology with sound arts. She believes in the power of sound to change mentalities and generate empathy.
Florin Dumitrescu: The market, soul of the city

In the 1990s, his fame as songwriter promoted him in the field of advertising, onto which he then focused his studies in linguistics and continued after 2000 with a PhD in socio-anthropology. Guided by late Vintilă Mihăilescu, Florin Dumitrescu started five years ago an ethnographic project on the markets from Bucharest.
V. Leac: Reenactments are impossible

V. Leac is obscure poet and artist of humility. He is the editor of the anthology „Hotel Cosmos. Poezie românească SF [Hotel Cosmos. SF Romanian Poetry]”, frACTalia, 2019, and the author of poetry volumes „Monoideal”, Nemira, 2018, „Toți sunt îngrijorați [Everyone is worried]”, Tracus Arte, 2010, „Dicționar de vise [Dictionary of dreams]”, Cartea românească, 2006.
Alice Gancevici & Remus Pușcariu: Spare parts

Alice Gancevici & Remus Pușcariu are an artistic duo based in Bucharest. In 2015 they graduated from an MA at Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam and recently their works were exhibited in Landscape In A Convex Mirror, Art Encounters Biennial (2021); Means Of Escape, Kunsthaus Erfurt (2021); Remote Complicities, Salonul de Proiecte (2019). From 2012 to 2020 they contributed to the formulation and organisation of Bucharest AiR, an international programme of artistic residencies in Bucharest. They are co-founders of Template, a platform that reimagines the transfer of sense and functionality of small corners and kiosks situated in the public-private limbo, setting them up as exhibition spaces.
Rucsandra Pop: What does Viitorului [Future] street tell us about the future?

Rucsandra Pop is a writer, anthropologist and urban stories hunter.
She believes Bucharest is hard to love, because many of us choose to live on the surface of the city. Beyond the crowded streets and the daily rush, Bucharest has many stories to tell and share. Viitorului street is one of the few streets which the regime change hasn’t changed its name, yet its buildings and inhabitants changed. The question is if the present of this street and can tell us something about its future and the future of the city.
Ioana Tudora: Bucharest’s neighbourhoods in courtyards and gardens

loana Tudora is architect, urban planner, doctor in sociology. Since 1998 she is lecturer at the Department of Landscape Design, Biodiversity and Ornamental Horticulture at the Agronomical University in Bucharest. She is the author of the book “In the Yard. Garden, Neighbourhood and Urban Landscape in Bucharest”, Curtea Veche, Bucharest, 2009
The meeting place for all the urban walks is in front of Paris Viitorului space, Mihai Eminescu 182, corner with Viitorului street. The nearest public transport is tram 16. Participation requires a Covid green pass and wearing a protective mask.
The urban walks programme is curated by Iuliana Dumitru, Raluca Voinea and Raluca Popa.
