A History of Economic Thought. Capital Speaks

Seminar VI

On March 28th 2017, at 7 pm, the sixth meeting of the A History of Economic Thought. Capital Speaks – Seminar will take place at tranzit.ro/ Cluj. After a short presentation of the previous discussion regarding David Ricardo's conceptualization of political economy, we will engage in a critical discussion of his legacy, by confronting two different streams of interpretation. On the one hand, we will discuss Schumpeter's theory of the Ricardian vice, and on the other, we will debate the significance of Ricardo's theory of value for the history of political economy with the help of Isaac Rubin's interpretation of it as appears in his text Essays on Marxist Theory of Value.
