What Tomorrow Brings – The Perpetual Beginning

Lecture and writing workshop

2 October 2018

Bonțida Secondary School, Cluj County

„This reading addressed the question of precariousness and innovation under precarious conditions. When the resources are scarce, the present is being constantly built . The innovation – badly needed when conditions are precarious –, requires skill, spontaneity, cool assessments, determination and ability. Viewed from the outside these skills are more often than not devaluated, are represented as disorder, lack of perspective and so on. The reading wanted to tilt the balance of such views and make a reassessment.” (Ovid Pop, 2018)

The writing workshop was conducted by the writer and theorist Ovid Pop and was realized with the participation of the pupils of the Bonțida School (age 12-14). Drawing upon a series of objects (images, sounds etc.), each participant builds up a subjective relation with the respective object. Subsequently they imagined a short story about what tomorrow might bring to that image, sound, object.
