EXHIBITION

11th of July – 1st of September 2020
Opening: 11th of July 2020, 6 p.m.
Elena Doamna street, No. 37, Iași

After 11th of July, the access in the exhibition space will be allowed only by appointment through private message on the 1+1 Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/unuplusunuorg)

The Exotic Plants Exhibition will present for the first time in Iași parts of the Cactus Collection of Baia Mare sculptor, Vida Geza (1913-1980). The oral history tells us that this collection was started with few seeds that the artist brought from Spain, during his revolutionary work as an anti-fascist fighter in the International Brigades of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1938). A militant artist, interested in the social role of art, Geza Vida is considered one of the most important sculptors of the postwar period. In the 1960s his collection became the most important private collection of cactus and succulents in Romania. After the artist’s death, the plants entered under the protection of public administration in the greenhouses of Baia Mare. Alongside these plants, the exhibition includes new works of art by Andreea Cioara, Andrei Nacu, Alexandru Paul and Andrei Timofte made especially for this exhibition as well as a video by the artist Maria Theresa Alves, in the Video-Forum collection of n.b.k.

You can read more about these works here and about artists new works here or @unuplusunu and @tranzitiasi on Instagram.
