Group exhibition
April 2-30, 2022
Opening: Saturday, April 2, 6 p.m.
GreenHouse / Sf. Atanasie street, no. 25, Iași
After the realization of three cultural projects dedicated to the virtual space, and / or organized in the spaces of the collaborators, satellite announces the opening of the first physical space of the association in Iași, together with active organizations for more than 10 years - tranzit. ro/ Iași, 1 + 1 and Teatru FiX. We invite you on April 2 to the opening of the After Future exhibition, which thus becomes the first event held in the new common space.
An exhibition about personal and collective possibilities, After Future brings together the current practices of Andreea Cioară, Smaranda Ursuleanu, and Orlando Emanuel, members of the former Libidoland collective. The latter had an artistic career similar to that of the satellite organizer: initiated and derived from the relationships and aspirations created during studies in Iasi of the collective members, but with exhibitional activity that started 10 years later (2007 satellite / 2017 Libidoland).
The new commissions of each participating artist present versions of the personal present as well as versions of the artistic practices from the moment of finishing their studies, intertwined organically with the determined subsequent trajectories. The resulting exhibition can be seen as the exploration of personal realities and futures, of the possibility of continuing the artistic activity in similar formulas and hypostases, while enforcing decisions for new beginnings that can or cannot be influenced by an already past imagined future of the student imaginary belonging to the exhibiting artists.
Andreea Cioară was born on 17th of October 1995 in Constanța, Romania. She lives and works in Iasi. She graduated BA in Ceramics within the Mural Art Department at the National Art University "George Enescu" Iasi in 2019. She is currently a MA student at Theory and practice in Visual Arts, at the same university. She is the author of personal exhibitions “Artă de 10 lei” (Galeria Aparte, Iași, 2022) and “NU” (tranzit. ro/ Iași, 2019) and has participated in group exhibitions such as: Body Space: Citizenship and Territories (Timişoara Garrison Command, 2020), “DIPLOMA. National Festival of Young Artists” (Bucharest, 2019), “Re-GENERATOR. Micro-festival of performing arts (Teatru FiX, Iași, 2019), Working Title 2 (MAGMA, Sfântul Gheorghe, 2018), "micro-Narratives" within the project “Re-Imagined Communities”, (1 + 1, 2017).
Orlando Emanuel (b. 1994) is a multimedia artist. He explores, sometimes by absurd reductions, the inherent incongruent productions of the subjective mind. The motive of his works are traditional African masks designed in a psychedelic universe, being inspired by his own experiences and a period of childhood years spent in South Africa. @orlandoxemanuel
Smaranda Ursuleanu (b. 1995) is an artist and cultural worker who lives and works in Iași. She graduated Mural Art (BA - 2017) at the National University of Arts from Iași. In 2016, she studied with an Erasmus + Scholarship to Novia University of Applied Sciences (Fine Arts) and in 2020 during MA (Photography-Video Art) to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (The School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices). Since 2021, she has been working with tranzit. ro/ Iași and 1+1.
The exhibition is part of the cultural project After Future organized by satelit in partnership with tranzit. ro/ Iași, Colectiv A and Oberliht, between March and September 2022.
