Theories and things coexist. Voluntarily or not, every time we act upon things we are forced to decide on the words that accompany them. We decide on discourse. We permanently negotiate its limits and contents. Different languages and different discourse universes emerge, disappear, are created, destroyed, claimed or kept silent, highlighted or overshadowed; they form and deform what we see.

“The series of workshops Discursive frameworks: culture <-- politics aims to reveal various ways of ordering the relevant words in the plane of political and cultural action. Social situations / artistic practices / specific art projects / will be juxtaposed / discussed / framed and reframed discursively with the help of the participants. The determining objective is to question the presence of politics in the realm of cultural interactions in a manner that is free from the constraints of any one unifying system of theoretical reflection, but specially designed to stimulate the need for theoretical reflection.

The participants will be encouraged to discuss freely / critically about various alternative/concurrent perceptions that describe the relationship between culture and politics, within three workshops. Each workshop will start from topics/themes presented by two guests.” (Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca)

Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca will take on the role of moderator/instigator in the debates.
