Launch of CORNER. Fotbal + societate #4

No fan of the most sponsored sport by Pepsi and Coca-Cola should miss the 4th issue of Corner magazine. The ball conducts our gaze towards Francesco Totti's rituals with the camera or, in the case of Polish National Football Team, towards the edge of the pitch, near Solidarność's banners.

The competition is the spectacle and it develops on many levels. From the Colosseum to the smart-stadium and the gadget arena, the principle remains the same: misdirection and distraction. When the logic of the competition applies to an institution, its micro-societies will start to act like football teams – a perfect filter to understand their dynamics.

We address the fan culture with a text connecting fashion and hooliganism through violence, a link lubricated by mass media and since the sports media doesn’t even write about football, we reverse the roles and compensate with an essay about swimming.

We illustrate the spaces for self-representation and solidarity with a poster dedicated to 1. Frauen Türkiyemspor Berlin women team and one dedicated to AFAN – the footballers trade union.
