Brassai Samuel St, no 5

The next meeting of the seminar „Theories of Property and Poverty in Modern Philosophy” will take place on Saturday, 20th of January, from 4 p.m. The discussion will focus on the elaboration of the property theory within Scotish political thought, starting from David Hume's texts: On Property and Riches and On the Balance of Trade. Proceeding from the pasion for private property to the impressions and concepts associated with both proprietors and poor, Hume proposes an economic model that treats inequality, poverty, or exploitation as simple, but necessary negative aspects for the development and the reproduction of a modern prosperous and comercial society. The critique of such economical and political pressupositions will be the central theme for debate in our next meeting.
